On June 28, 2025, Lucille Meriam Edwards Rucker declared “Victory” as she returned home to her Heavenly Father. Known simply as Mimmie and Lucille to family and friends, she was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, later moving to Los Angeles, California as a teenager—where she would live for the remainder of her life.
Mimmie’s passing reunites her with her loving parents, Isaac Edwards Sr. and Lucille Johnson Edwards, as well as her siblings, Roland Edwards, Albertha Edwards, and Marion Edwards—along with a host of cherished family and friends. Known for her passion for singing and her love of the color yellow—symbolizing optimism, joy, and enlightenment—Lucille’s legacy of love endures through her husband, Leon Rucker; her siblings, Isaac Edwards, Rudolph Edwards, and Fredrica Johnson; her children, Roderick Florence (Shirley) and Amber Rucker; her grandchildren, Élishia Florence-Baisley (Jared), Jeremy Florence, and Kennisha Austin Burns (Keith); and her niece, Shawn Johnson-Woodfin (Derrick).Her legacy also lives on in a host of family members, friends, and the many people she touched and helped along her life’s journey.”
